‘Destino’ Competition

It’s been far too long since I’ve had a competition on this blog, so here we go… 100 Vivo’s are the prize for correctly identifying a mathematical concept in the ‘Destino’ film below. One winner will be drawn at random from the correct entries received.

“How do I enter?” I hear you say. Well, it’s very easy. Just use the contact link on this web-page to send an email to myself with your name and the name of the mathematical concept. There’s lots of mathematics in there, you’ve just got to look closely! The closing date for entries is Monday 5th November. Good luck!

‘Mysterious Digits’ Competition Winner

Commiserations to everyone who entered the ‘Mysterious Digits’ competition! Not one student was able to correctly identify Durham University’s Botanic Garden as the location of the wooden digits in the picture, so 100 Vivo’s remain with Mr Wood for the first time ever!

Fortunately, there will be many more opportunities to win big on www.mrwoodmaths.tumblr.com! The ‘Mysterious Paintballer’ competition is still running, so why not have a guess and email your entry before Friday 14th September. Good luck this time!

This wonderful video clip, ‘MUTO’ was recommended by Mrs Hutchinson. It’s a short film made by Blu and is an ambiguous animation painted on public walls in Buenos Aires and Baden. Check out the great web-site at www.blublu.org for even more visual treats.

Time for yet another competition! 100 Vivo’s are the prize for correctly naming a 3D object shown in the clip above. One winner will be drawn at random from the correct entries received.

“How do I enter?” I hear you say. Well, it’s very easy. Just use the contact link on this web-page to send an email to myself with your name and the mathematical name of a 3D object shown in the video. The closing date for entries is Friday 6th July. Good luck!
